Most people visit the dentist because they know what it takes to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Routine care such as checkups, cleanings, and preventive treatments may be understood as necessary and are obtained as needed. For many, however, this is done with feelings of immense stress and even fear. Though it was believed that the majority of people see their dentist regularly, professionals are becoming increasingly aware that this may not be accurate. Due to intense anxiety, millions of people avoid receiving care, even when they know they need it.
Dr. Hatcher and his dental team want their patients to know it is possible to receive dental care without anxiety and even without pain. One of the things we help our patients do is put an end to dental fear. We do this by offering gentle, compassionate dental care and by offering sedation services to ease the entire dental experience for our Greensboro, NC patients. Through the precise delivery of the right type of sedative, our staff can achieve a pain-free, stress-free treatment process.
We recognize that, for many people, regardless of age, dental anxiety is a very real issue. There are numerous reasons that a person may feel apprehension about scheduling dental care. It could be that an unpleasant experience occurred in the past, or there is fear of being “scolded” for a lack of regular dental care. As your dental team, we find it most important to listen to your concerns and provide care in a way that achieves goals while attending to your overall wellbeing. Reprimanding patients or passing judgment about oral hygiene does no one any good. Encouraging positive change by building trust, on the other hand, can set in motion the changes that need to take place in order to avoid future dental problems.
Patients of Dr. Hatcher can choose from a number of different types of sedation. IV sedation may be one that most people consider as deep sedation and therefore reserved for dental surgeries. In fact, IV sedation refers only to the method of delivery. Using this method, we are able to achieve excellent results. Due to the fact that IV sedation is quickly introduced into the bloodstream, the onset of relaxing effects is very quick. Additionally, the fact that the body responds so quickly to IV sedation means that we have the ability to maintain the most ideal level of sedation throughout treatment. Not every case calls for deep sedation in which the patient “sleeps.” IV sedation can also be used for lighter sedation. The idea is to meet the needs of each individual patient in order to encourage positive dental experiences.
By making sedation a part of your dental treatments, it is possible to say goodbye to dental anxiety for good. Discuss your options for sedation in a consultation with Dr. Hatcher. Call (336) 383-1482 to schedule your visit and let us help you get your smile back on track.
