Dr. Chavala M. Harris has devoted her life to educating families in dental health and providing compassionate and positive experiences for children. As a native of Winston-Salem and after working in the triad area for over a decade, providing care for children has been a blessing and a passion for her! Her dedication to delivering exceptional care for children can be seen in her ranking as one of the “Three Best Rated” children’s dentists in the triad area in 2020.
She attended high school in high point, N.C., at Westchester Country Day School and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.S. in biology and chemistry. Dr. Harris earned her D.D.S. from the Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in Nashville, Tennessee and completed her general practice residency at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, working with immunocompromised adult and pediatric patients. She is certified in conscious intravenous sedation.
Dr. Harris is able to stay current on both research-driven and standard-of-care models by providing excellent care for children and attending monthly continuing education classes. Her experience as a clinical research coordinator and data technician in pathology and laboratory medicine, infectious disease, and ambulatory care allowed her to be included in scientific journal publications.
Family & Hobbies
After her father’s death from lung cancer, she became an active fundraiser and supporter of the American Lung Association. She enjoys swimming, reading, and traveling. She is also in the process of adopting her precious baby girl.
