Are you anxious or even fearful about your upcoming dental treatment? Triad Dentistry understands and sympathizes with you. We know dental fear is real, so we offer sedation dentistry in Greensboro, North Carolina, to help you overcome it. Our dentists provide nitrous oxide and IV sedation to ensure you can enjoy dentistry again. Whether your dental anxiety stems from fear of needles, past traumatic experiences, or fear of the unknown, visit us today for a new dawn for your smile.

Who needs sedation dentistry?

Fear of the dentist often leads to dental avoidance, compounding oral health issues. As you’d expect, neglecting professional care puts you at risk of several oral health issues, including gum disease, decay, and bad breath. We love to see our patients flash healthy, beautiful smiles, so we won’t let dental fear take that from you.

Visit our sedation dentist if you:

  • Suffer from dental anxiety, fear, or phobia that manifests as sleepless nights, a racing heart, and sweaty palms before your treatment.
  • Have a lengthy treatment.
  • Are undergoing multiple dental treatments at once.
  • Struggle to get or stay numb with anesthetics.
  • Have low pain tolerance.
  • Have a strong gag reflex.

We offer practical help to dental-phobic patients. We won’t dismiss your fears as unfounded or convince you “it’s all in your head.” We’ll listen to your concerns and suggest possible sedation dentistry options to ensure you enjoy dentistry in a calm, stress-free environment.

What are the sedation dentistry options available?

Sedation dentistry uses anti-anxiety medication to calm your body and mind as the dentist works on you. You won’t notice smells, feel pain, or have a sense of time. Dental fear ranges from mild uneasiness to severe anxiety, where patients completely avoid the dentist. Several sedation dentistry options are available to cater to different needs.

  • Nitrous oxide: It’s also called happy or laughing gas. It involves inhaling colorless, odorless nitrous oxide through a mask on your nose. It’s the mildest form of sedation but powerful enough to keep you calm and relaxed. The sedation effects kick in when the mask is placed and remains throughout your treatment. Similarly, the sedation wears off immediately after removing the mask, allowing you to drive yourself home after treatment.
  • IV sedation: Intravenous (IV) sedation offers mild to deep sedation, depending on your comfort levels. This sedation is administered through an IV line created on your hand. Since it enters the bloodstream directly, IV sedation is fast-acting. Our team will constantly monitor you during sedation to ensure a safe and comfortable experience. Unlike inhalation sedation, IV sedation doesn’t leave your body immediately after treatment. This way, you’ll need someone to drive you home.

Our sedation dentistry ensures you can experience dental care comfortably, no matter the procedure. Whether you’re here for a routine cleaning or a more complex oral surgery, our tailored sedation options are designed to meet your unique needs.

Are you ready for stress-free dentistry?

Whether you have mild or severe dental fear, begin your relaxing dental experience today! Call (336) 383-1482 to schedule an appointment with Triad Dentistry. Our team will help you determine the sedation option that fits your needs.
