Dental crowns are used in both cosmetic and Family Dentistry to cover and protect teeth. Full dental crowns are also used to restore dental implants and act as a false tooth. They play a versatile part in the field of dentistry. However, at most dental practices, receiving a dental crown is a long process, and requires more than one visit to the dentist. Thanks to CEREC technology offered by Dr. Hatcher, patients who visit his Greensboro, NC practice can enjoy same-day restorations.
The traditional way of creating dental crowns is by having an outside laboratory make the restoration. Patients would visit their dentist and the tooth would be prepped, then impressions would be made, and sent to a laboratory, which could be states away. Weeks may go by before the restorations are completed and sent to the dentist, and the patient will need to return for the placement of the crown. This process is drawn out, and it wastes both time and money for the patient.
Thanks to CEREC technology, Dr. Hatcher is able to create single-visit tooth restorations. This technology is done during the same appointment as the preparation of the tooth. A photo is taken of the tooth and sent to a computer program, which creates the structure of the dental crown, and then the dentist is able to create a precise restoration from a block of porcelain with the CEREC milling machine. This restoration will fit perfectly onto the patient’s tooth and it can be ready in as little as ten minutes. Dr. Hatcher can then place the dental crown during the same visit and the patient can leave with their beautiful restoration without having to make follow-up appointments.
Our practice understands that your time is valuable, which is why we offer CEREC crowns and other restorations that can be done quickly and easily without requiring additional appointments.
