A local dentist in Greensboro might suggest veneers
Cosmetic dentistry allows patients to see their smiles transformed. Perhaps the teeth are uneven or spaced improperly. Or maybe there is permanent staining or chips and cracks. When you come to our office wanting to improve the imperfections in your smile, we are ready to help you realize that dream. We understand that improving the appearance of the smile can improve confidence and open doors personally and professionally. One of the most common procedures used to make those improvements is porcelain veneers.
What are veneers?
Porcelain veneers are specifically designed to mask imperfections on teeth. They are custom fabricated pieces of porcelain that are fitted and then adhered to the front of teeth, completely altering the appearance. Porcelain veneers are extremely popular because of how quickly they can transform a smile. They are also extremely versatile, hiding issues with color, shape, size, and spacing.
Why we may suggest veneers
At our Greensboro office, we recommend porcelain veneers in several situations. They are a great option for patients who have experienced superficial cracks or chips in the teeth. They can make teeth short appear longer, or cover minor issues with alignment. Veneers are great for teeth with staining that is unresponsive to teeth whitening.
The veneer process
The veneer process is relatively straightforward. Patients come into our office for preparation of the teeth. This may involve removing an ultra-thin portion of the enamel to allow room for the veneers. Molds are then made and sent to a lab for fabrication of the veneers. When they are ready, you return to the office. Before placement, we will confirm size and fit, minor alterations can be made in the office. The veneers are then permanently bonded to the teeth.
