Greensboro area patients can relax during a dental extraction with sedation

Sedation from dentist in Greensboro

It is not unusual for Drs. Steven Hatcher and Sona Isharani to have a patient who requires a dental extraction.

Why remove a tooth?

There are many reasons a patient may require the removal of a tooth. They include, but are not limited to:

  • A tooth with an extremely large cavity
  • Injury to the tooth, such as breakage or extensive damage
  • Failed root canal therapy
  • Removal of the wisdom teeth due to pain
  • Removal of teeth to prepare for orthodontic work (specifically when overcrowding is present)

Do dental extractions hurt?

There are two types of dental extractions that are performed in our practice – a simple extraction and a surgical extraction. Surgical extractions are required when patients need to have a tooth removed from below the gum line. This may be done if a tooth is impacted and has not yet broken through. For a simple extraction, a tooth is simply wedged out of the bone using special tools. These teeth can be pulled in a matter of minutes.
Dental extractions do not hurt because our team uses local anesthetics as well as sedation to ensure optimum patient comfort throughout the procedure. Sedative methods used include inhalation, oral conscious sedation, and IV sedation. All three are available at our practice. They are not only used during dental extractions but even for simple cleanings and examinations when our patients have high anxiety.
Greensboro area residents desiring quality dental care are encouraged to book an appointment at the practice of Drs. Steven Hatcher and Sona Isharani. First time visit with cleaning and evaluation. New dentists always seem to find significant work which would return your situation to optimum condition. Clearly need a cavity repaired. Will reserve comment on actual work for when work is done. Very pleased with Dr. Santiago’s willingness to repair versus replace. And, repair work was outstanding!
