The main reason is to prevent either periodontal disease or cavities from destroying either the teeth or bones that support teeth.  Once periodontal disease sets in, the bone supporting teeth erodes away over time.  There is no pain with gum disease but there are signs.   If your gums bleed  you may have periodontal disease.  Xrays along with a comprehensive dental exam will tell you if you have gum disease.  It is much easier to prevent gum disease than to treat the aftermath.  The old cliche of “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of medicine” defintely holds true in preventive dentistry.

If you would like to know if you have periodontal disease contact us at 336-282-4022.  We are located at 2707-C Pinedale Rd, Greensboro, NC

Dental Implants in Greensboro North Carolina http://www.triaddentistry.com/blog/2011/11/dental-implants-in-greensboro-north-carolina/ http://www.triaddentistry.com/blog/2011/11/dental-implants-in-greensboro-north-carolina/#comments Tue, 15 Nov 2011 02:15:48 +0000 googlelogin0139@sesamecommunications.com http://www.triaddentistry.com/blog/?p=21 Did you know that less than 1% of dentists place and restore dental implants.  At the office of Steven L Hatcher, DDS, in Greensboro, North Carolina we have the training and expertise to place and restore dental implants.  Dental implants are a wonderful way to replace teeth that have been lost to gum disease, decay or even trauma.

The biggest advantage of dental implants is that they do not rely on other teeth for support.  They actually bond to your bone structure and become a part of your body. Dental implants can replace missing teeth like magic!   Dental implants can be so  cosmetic and natural that even some dentists find it difficult to tell the difference between a dental implant and a natural tooth!

Dental implants are also versatile.  They can be used to help people who have trouble with their dentures.  My father is a perfect example.  He had trouble with his upper denture until we placed dental implants.  Well with dental implants we were able to make his denture less thick and much more tolerable for him.  Now he can eat anything he wants and does not worry about his denture getting loose.

Cerec One Visit Crowns http://www.triaddentistry.com/blog/2011/11/cerec-one-visit-crowns/ http://www.triaddentistry.com/blog/2011/11/cerec-one-visit-crowns/#comments Mon, 14 Nov 2011 03:02:12 +0000 googlelogin0139@sesamecommunications.com http://www.triaddentistry.com/blog/?p=19 Did you know that less than 10% of all dentists have the technology to do single visit crowns?  The cerec technology is a revolutionary way to restore a tooth in one visit.  In Greensboro, North Carolina porcelain veneers, crowns, inlays and onlays can be accomplished with the use of Cerec in one visit.  I am a dentist who truly believes in this technology, so much that I have even restored my own family members with cerec porcelain crowns and onlays!

What are Porcelain Veneers? http://www.triaddentistry.com/blog/2011/11/what-are-porcelain-veneers/ http://www.triaddentistry.com/blog/2011/11/what-are-porcelain-veneers/#comments Tue, 08 Nov 2011 02:42:23 +0000 googlelogin0139@sesamecommunications.com http://www.triaddentistry.com/blog/?p=15 This is a common question that we get at the office.  Porcelain veneers are often used in smile makeovers.  With Porcleain Veneers you can change the shape and color of teeth. Spaces or gaps can be closed, the possibilities are almost endless!  They are mainly considered a cosmetic procedure and dental insurance frequently does not cover the service.

Frequently,  the upper front teeth from premolar to premolar are included in the smile makeover.  The teeth are carefully prepared and molds are made of the teeth.  Then, the  master ceramist fabricates the porcelain veneers and they are returned to the dentist for approval.  Upon approval by the dentist and the patient they are bonded in place.

When done well, they can last a very long time.  For examples of some of our cosmetic work go to http://www.triaddentistry.com/before-and-after.php

Upcoming Event at the Greensboro Coliseum http://www.triaddentistry.com/blog/2011/11/upcoming-event-at-the-greensboro-coliseum/ http://www.triaddentistry.com/blog/2011/11/upcoming-event-at-the-greensboro-coliseum/#comments Mon, 07 Nov 2011 02:28:42 +0000 googlelogin0139@sesamecommunications.com http://www.triaddentistry.com/blog/?p=8 I am really looking forward to giving back to the community. This Friday and Saturday on 11-11-11 and 11-12-11 there will be a group of dentists led by the North Carolina Dental Society providing free dentistry to the community.

Two weeks ago I volunteered at the Greensboro Dental Bus at Guilford Baptist Church where we provided free dental care to people who cannot afford regular dental care. It was quite a rewarding experience. I honestly believe that I got much more out of the experience than the patients did. I would encourage others to give back if they can in their own field to make a difference.
